Logistics Controller - Poultry - Free State Province

SUMMARY:
Poultry Logistics Controller - Poultry Catching - Management of staff and vehicles background is essential. Must have own transport.

POSITION INFO:

Remuneration: R18 - R20 000 monthly

Our esteemed national client, who is in the Poultry industry, has an opportunity available for a Logistics manager,  with strong leadership skills combined with a deep, practical knowledge and understanding of poultry catching operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the live bird catching operations on Contract Grower Broiler Farms, whilst ensuring compliance to bird welfare legislation, company procedures and safety standards.

It is essential to have own reliable transport.

Responsibilities:

• Managing a team of ± 60 employees and their shifts
• Managing bio-security and ensuring correct procedures are followed
• Ensuring that all catching activities are conducted safely and in compliance with all procedures and SOP’s of the company
• Constant communication with parties involved in operation
• HR related functions (time sheets, contracts, leave, discipline etc.)
• Travelling from site to site in the Free State area
• Willing to work unpredictable hours and weekends

Essential Requirements

•  Poultry farming experience or a background in ‘catching’
• A valid drivers licence with own transport
• Managerial experience in leading staff
• Dealing with the logistics of trucks/vehicles 

• Auditing experience would be an advantage
• Excellent communication skills
• Candidate must be highly motivated
• Computer literate with knowledge of basic programmes such as Excel etc.
• Previous experience in animal welfare or equivalent qualification
• Proven People management skills
• Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and own transport
• Knowledge of Health and Safety
