POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the Role

The Legal Advisor / Paralegal will provide expert support on all contractual, compliance, and intellectual property matters within the business. This role is essential in ensuring the organisation’s legal and operational interests are protected through sound contract management, risk mitigation, and adherence to relevant legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a solid legal background, strong commercial understanding, and the ability to work closely with operational and field service teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and interpret commercial contracts, service agreements, and supplier terms and conditions.
• Provide legal input on contractual liabilities and advise on risk mitigation measures.
• Support management and operational teams in understanding the legal implications of business decisions.
• Manage and maintain company records relating to patents, trademarks, and copyright law.
• Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and regulatory obligations.
• Guide intellectual property (IP) management and protect the company''s innovations and assets.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract management processes and templates.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Strong working knowledge of contracts, terms and conditions, and commercial law.
• Understanding of patents, copyright, and intellectual property protection.
• Experience in a field service, manufacturing, or technical operations environment is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Confident communicator who can advise non-legal stakeholders clearly and practically.

• Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum: Diploma or Degree in Law / Paralegal Studies or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Admission as an Attorney or strong corporate legal background.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a similar role involving contracts, IP, and operational legal support.
  • Exposure to engineering, rail, construction, or field service industries will be advantageous.
  • Mature individual with sound judgement and the ability to operate independently.
