Aligned to teaching and learning strategy, the Learning and Development Officer provides leadership, mentoring and training on continuous improvement of Academic staff and student success across the brand. Through training and development, the L&D Office will inspire the evolution of innovative curricular and pedagogy for both contact and distance delivery, high levels of student engagement and support, and a quality blended learning experience for students. The L&D officer will be responsible for quality assurance and regulatory compliance for the brand as well as academic administration.

TheLearning and Development Officer plays a key level role in pedagogic and academic development imperatives for the continuous professional development of teaching staff and the development of graduate attributes, skills and competencies for student success. This job involves the planning of learning and development requirements; the creation and implementation of internal training programs; development support for both lecturers and students; and to continue to build capacity and skills of academics. The L&D Officer will build and implement the new academic staff development framework to inform the upskilling of academic staff as well as the formulation of academic- and digital literacy programs for student success. Responsibility also extends to finalizing progression plans and developing the capability of academic staff across a wide variety of developmental areas such as Moodle, O365, leadership development, academic development in alignment to the Teaching and Learning strategy.  
The L&D Officer will also be responsible for updating all policy document and keeping the brand compliant with in country regulators.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
4-5 years academic management experience in higher education
Proven teaching portfolio with academic operations experience
Innovation in pedagogy and experience in online, contact, blended and distance learning Digital Literacy Skills (high competency) 
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) 
O365  
Online skills and practices 
Knowledge of digital literacy  
Moodle/LMS knowledge and experience 
Facilitation Skills 
Experience in facilitation, teaching and/or lecturing Knowledge of educational practices/pedagogy 
Experience in face to face and virtual/online education 
Staff Development Knowledge 
Knowledge of staff development basics 
Experience in staff development initiatives and projects 
Content Writing Skills 
Experience and evidence of content writing knowledge 
Understanding of content writing for education/development purposes 
Knowledge of content writing best practices 
Experience in multimodality, mixed media content curating 


Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and executive learning strategies and programs in alignment with the academic staff development framework
Identify teaching and learning needs in accordance with the organizations strategic and operational plan
Ensure compliance in factsheets, academic calendars, academic prospectus, the review of programmes, policies and procedures
Develop and deliver eLearning, workshops and other trainings and monitor and evaluate their success
Registration and accreditation submission to regulatory bodies in country
