Lathe Programmer/Operator

SUMMARY:
A client in the engineering industry based in Boksburg is looking for a Lathe Programmer/Operator.

POSITION INFO:
Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in CNC & Conventional lathe programmer/operator.
• Trade tested or certified machinist
• Strong understanding of turning operations, tool selection, and machining parameters.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment and quality inspection procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs efficiently.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Program, set, and operate Conventional & CNC lathes to produce high-precision components to engineering specifications.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, models, and job specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements.
• Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
• Monitor and optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and report any machine issues promptly.
• Maintain detailed records of machine setups, programs, and production runs.
• Collaborate with engineers, team leaders, and quality control personnel to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
