Lab Technician

SUMMARY:
Our client, an international specialist manufacturer, seeks to employ a Laboratory Technician to join their progressive and expanding professional team.
Please note, we do require a candidate who has experience working within a laboratory environment, with exposure to binders, asphalt materials, bitumen, aggregates or related construction materials.

POSITION INFO:
KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION:

• You will have completed a tertiary qualification in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or a related field

• You must have good knowledge and practical application of testing standards, including SANS, ASTM, AASHTO, EN or COTO

• You will be responsible for testing and evaluating binders, raw materials, aggregates and related construction materials, supporting technical troubleshooting and research and development projects

• You will provide technical troubleshooting and assistance relating to product formulation, plant and field operations, as well as technical support to customers and internal branches

• You will have solid working knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, good laboratory practices, technical record keeping and quality control

• Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems, with previous experience in an ISO 9001 environment advantageous

• You must have strong report writing, scientific writing and technical presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical results effectively to customers and internal stakeholders

• You will be responsible for laboratory equipment maintenance, verification and calibration, as well as ensuring standard test methods are consistently followed

• You must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

• You must be able to work independently, remain focused under pressure and demonstrate an innovative approach to technical problem-solving

• You must be willing and able to travel to sites and work away from home when required

• Previous experience in quality management certification will be advantageous

• You must have a valid driver’s licence, own car and a clear criminal and credit record
