POSITION INFO:

LABORATORY INTERN

Location: Roodeplaat
Salary: R7 500 per month
Starting Date: ASAP
Type: 2-Year Internship

Requirements

SAQA-recognised tertiary qualification with relevant subjects such as Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Botany or similar
Knowledge of microbiology, plant pathology, botany, PCR-based methods, biochemistry and ELISA-based serology
Practical laboratory analysis skills
Meticulous and able to follow laboratory methods accurately
Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365
Good communication, report-writing, planning and time-management skills
Professional, positive, honest and reliable
Free from colour blindness or colour-vision deficiencies
Physically able to handle potato samples, lift up to 15 kg and perform tasks requiring bending, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive movements
Own vehicle or reliable transport to and from work essential

Responsibilities

Execute scheduled laboratory tasks in accordance with Quality System methods and procedures
Receive, handle and process samples
Record information and data accurately
Report sample or documentation errors and deviations to the Senior Technologists
Maintain knowledge of laboratory methods, equipment, reagents and testing procedures
Follow ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
Assist with the continued improvement of laboratory processes
