Key Accounts Manager / Business Development Engineer Durban, South Africa 

Our client, a premier leader in heavy engineering and utility/industrial boiler manufacturing, is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Key Accounts Manager / Business Development Engineer. Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, you will drive customer engagement, market expansion, energy transition technologies, and international account development.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Development & Market Expansion: Identify and develop opportunities within industrial steam generation, sugar, biomass, and energy transition sectors.
• Customer Relationship Management: Build key relationships with industrial clients, sugar mills, EPC contractors, and consultants. Secure repeat business, retrofits, upgrades, and service opportunities.
• Tendering & Commercial Support: Prepare tenders and proposals, participate in commercial negotiations, evaluate risks, and manage project handovers to execution teams.
• Supplier Development: Engage local and international suppliers to optimize supply chain competitiveness and cost performance.
• Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, alternative fuels, biomass innovations, and competitor activity to guide strategic growth.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Industrial). An MBA or relevant business qualification is advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy engineering, industrial boiler systems, steam generation, power generation, or related process industries. Background in Sales, Proposals, Projects, or Engineering preferred.
• Travel Requirements: Valid driver''s licence, valid passport, and willingness to travel internationally regularly.
• Skills: Strong contract and commercial awareness, tendering, proposal development, and CRM expertise.
