Junior Tax Manager

They are looking for a Junior Tax Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Tax Manager and Head of Bookkeeping & Tax and will be responsible for managing the firm’s tax administration processes, SARS correspondence, submissions, registrations, and client tax matters.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

• Manage the income tax process for companies, individuals, deceased estates, and trusts, including calculations, submissions, and recordkeeping.
• Manage the provisional tax process for companies, individuals, and trusts.
• Prepare and send tax payment notices to managers and taxpayers, ensuring deadlines are communicated.
• Oversee the payroll tax function for clients.
• Handle SARS updates of particulars and tax registrations, including deceased estates and testamentary trusts.
• Process various SARS registration applications and forms via eFiling and SARS branches.
• Manage eFiling registrations, tax types, client particulars, and related administration.
• Prepare and submit supporting documentation to SARS while maintaining accurate records.
• Set up Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and other tax payments via eFiling and communicate these to taxpayers.
• Follow up on outstanding SARS refunds and liaise with relevant parties.
• Monitor SARS correspondence and maintain an accurate query register.
• Attend to SARS queries and taxpayer requests, with support from the Senior Tax Manager where required.
• Assist with SARS representative appointments.
• Maintain accurate records across various systems, including AJS Flow, eFiling, Easy File, Ufiling, CF Filing, Windeed, and other relevant platforms.
• Manage Avid Flow matters and scheduling.
• Assist with notices, correspondence, and bulk client communications.
• Assist with registration applications and administration involving institutions such as the Department of Labour, FEMA, RMA, and Master of the High Court.
• Provide guidance, training, and assistance to tax clerks with technical work and client correspondence.

• Matric / Grade 12
• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field
• Registered Tax Practitioner with a recognised controlling body in South Africa
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in tax administration
• Strong knowledge of South African tax regulations, particularly the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011
• Solid knowledge of SARS policies and procedures
• Good understanding of the full tax administration function
• Strong computer skills
• Experience with tax assessment and payroll software, such as Simple Pay, will be advantageous
• Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
