Junior Sales Engineer

Our client, a well-established sheet metal manufacturing company in Paarl, is looking to employ Junior Sales Engineers.

This is an entry level position.

In the Sales Department this position’s main role is to provide support to the team of Sales Engineers to deliver service excellence to customers.

The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Manager.

An overview of the tasks and responsibilities (KPI), however not limited to, are as follows:

• Handle customer enquiries.
• Take customer phone calls / messages on behalf of the team - Sales Engineers.
• Check the team, Sales Engineers, emails for urgent orders / customer queries when team member is unavailable at that moment or on customer visits.
• Determine parts manufacturing feasibility by consulting with the production department to confirm if the parts can be manufactured.
• Communicate with different departments such as the Production- and Drawing department for information needed to prepare quotations and manufacture parts ordered.
• Prepare quotations for customers.
• Follow-up with customers on quotations done.
• Process customer orders.
• Prepare jobs for manufacturing.
• Printing, editing (dimensioning) and approving drawings for manufacturing.
• Tracking orders of work-in-progress system and communicate with customers regarding any changes in delivery dates.
• Costing review - signing off on job costings and compare final prices to original quoted prices.
• Update stock prices.
• Open and close any exception instances (IIRs) relating to any function within the production cycle using the company’s system.
• To prioritise and handle reworks.
• Other involvement:
• Attend weekly sales MBU (mini business unit) meetings.
• Attend monthly sales GP meetings.

You will be required to have the following skill set, qualifications, and experience:

• Effective support to the team.
• Effective communication.
• To take ownership for growth and development.
• Be efficient in tasks, deliver quality work, on-time.
• Complete S4 – seeking 6-month internship (experiential learning); or recently qualified National Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial.

Area: Paarl and surrounding areas.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Market related salary.
