About the Role
The role of this permanent full-time position, reporting to the Project Engineer, is to provide technical assistance with the planning, installation, monitoring and reporting of real-time monitoring systems for geotechnical applications in the mining and civil engineering industries. BEng (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) required. Work experience after graduation is not essential.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing technical support and assistance for monitoring systems, instrumentation and related technologies to staff and clients.
• Underground and surface project work, including installation, commissioning, monitoring and maintenance of real-time monitoring systems and instrumentation.
• Assisting with project planning, coordination and execution to ensure successful site implementation.
• Conducting fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostics on instrumentation, communication and monitoring systems.
• Quality assurance and quality control on new products, installations and returned equipment.
• Developing and improving structured product testing and validation procedures.
• Assisting with product reliability testing, environmental testing and long-term performance evaluation.
• Identifying opportunities for product, process and installation improvements based on field observations and data analysis.
• Reviewing monitoring data for anomalies, trends and possible instrumentation or system issues.
• Assisting with instrumentation and equipment design, prototype development and product refinement.
• Preparing technical reports, product support documentation and installation procedures.
• Maintaining and customising software dashboards and data visualisation systems.
• Developing and improving internal systems, technical procedures, checklists and documentation.
• Preparing CAD drawings of instrumentation assemblies and related components.
• Liaising with suppliers regarding equipment selection, fabrication, quality, delivery and technical suitability.
• Providing information for preparing orders for dispatch and stock management.
• Providing technical input to the sales and operations teams regarding products and client requirements.
• Maintaining accurate project records, tracking documents and technical documentation.
• Assisting with workshop assembly, testing and preparation of monitoring systems and equipment.
• Evaluating technical problems and making initial recommendations for corrective and preventative actions.
• Any other technical or operational duties reasonably required by management.

• BEng/BSc (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Electronic)
• 0-3 Years relevant experience
• Experience working with hand tools (either at home, hobbies or in a workshop).
• CAD knowledge and experience
• MS Office Advanced
• Basic Programming Logic
• Drivers license
• Own Transport
• Previous exposure to mining/civils industry desirable
• Previous Project management exposure desirable
• Practical and hands-on mindset, comfortable diagnosing technical issues systematically, including intermittent or difficult-to-reproduce faults.
• Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy and quality.
• Naturally methodical and structured in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
• Professional and confident when interacting with clients, contractors and technical personnel.
• Proficient and fluent communication in written and spoken English.
• Working knowledge of Afrikaans would be advantageous.
• Demonstrable interest in technology, electronics, systems, software or engineering-related hobbies/projects.
• Willingness to work underground and on-site

• R20 000 - R33 000 p.m. (Depending on qualifications and experience)
• Life Insurance, Income Protection, Retirement Funding, Medical, 15 days leave p.a.
• Monday - Friday 7am-4pm, when not on site

• Preferably currently residing in Johannesburg area
• Must be willing to work underground and on-site
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly required.
