Junior Plumber / Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY:
Luxury Game Lodge based close to Pongola is looking for a Junior Plumber / Maintenance Technician to join their maintenance team and assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing and water systems across the lodge and surrounding infrastructure.

While the primary responsibility of this role will be plumbing and water systems, the successful candidate will also assist with general maintenance tasks across the property as directed by the Maintenance Supervisors.

The position requires a practical individual with formal plumbing training and hands-on experience, capable of working in a lodge environment where water infrastructure such as boreholes, pumps, filtration systems, and water distribution networks form a critical part of daily operations.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems across lodge buildings and infrastructure
Diagnose and repair water leaks, pipe failures, and plumbing faults
Install and maintain water reticulation systems, valves, and pipe networks
Maintain water pumps and water pressure systems
Assist with maintenance of water filtration and purification systems
Maintain geyser installations, hot water systems, and related plumbing components
Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify maintenance requirements
Support preventative maintenance programs for water infrastructure
Assist the maintenance team with general maintenance work across the lodge when required
Perform general handyman duties including basic building repairs and installations
Ensure plumbing systems operate safely and efficiently to maintain lodge operations
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance materials in good working condition

Requirements:

Plumbing qualification or formal training (Trade Certificate, N2/N3, or equivalent)
Proven practical experience in plumbing installations and maintenance
Experience working with water pumps, valves, and water distribution systems
Experience installing and maintaining geyser systems and hot water supply
Ability to diagnose and repair plumbing faults
Basic understanding of water system maintenance and safety procedures
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work in a remote lodge environment
Experience working in lodges, resorts, or hospitality environments
Experience with borehole systems and water infrastructure
Experience with water purification or filtration systems
Practical experience in general maintenance and handyman tasks
Strong practical and technical problem-solving ability
Reliable and hardworking
Hands-on approach to maintenance tasks
Ability to work independently and within a team
Willingness to assist across multiple maintenance disciplines
Good communication skills and professional attitude
