SUMMARY:

Junior Mechanical Draughtsman

A well-established engineering and manufacturing company is seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Draughtsman to join its technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing draughtsman to gain hands-on exposure to mechanical design, manufacturing environments, and engineering projects while working alongside experienced professionals.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities

Create and update detailed mechanical drawings using CAD software.
Prepare manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with engineering standards.
Assist engineers and senior draughtsmen with design modifications and project documentation.
Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
Maintain drawing registers and engineering documentation.
Liaise with production teams to resolve drawing-related queries.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
Conduct drawing revisions and updates as required.
Assist with the preparation of bill of materials (BOMs).
Ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Draughting, or a related field.
1-3 years' experience in a mechanical draughting environment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
Basic understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Advantageous

Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment.
Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, or structural design principles.
Exposure to 3D modelling and design software.
Understanding of engineering standards and drafting best practices.
