SUMMARY:
Junior Litigation Associate
Based in Sandton
R20 000 CTC

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements:

Debt collection/recoveries and/or motor vehicle insurance litigation added bonus
Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
1–2 years’ post-admission experience.
General civil litigation experience is essential.
Excellent drafting and legal research skills.
Valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities

Manage litigation matters from inception to finalisation.
Draft summonses, particulars of claim, pleadings, notices, affidavits, applications, opinions, and correspondence.
Attend consultations with clients, counsel, witnesses, and experts.
Appear in the Magistrates’ Courts and attend to all court-related processes.
Prepare trial and application bundles and brief counsel where necessary.
Negotiate settlements and liaise with clients, counsel, advocates, sheriffs, and correspondent attorneys.
Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice.
Ensure compliance with court rules, practice directives, and client service level agreements.

Advantageous

Experience using Court Online, CaseLines, Legal Suite and AJS
Experience acting for banks, insurers, or other institutional clients.
Experience in commercial litigation.
