Junior Fund Accountant

POSITION INFO:
Our client, a well-established and respected financial services organization, is seeking a Junior Fund Accountant to join their Funds division.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journals relating to fund transactions, revenue recognition, accruals, and fund provisions.
• Perform reconciliations between operational and financial systems, investigating and resolving discrepancies within strict reporting deadlines.
• Analyze fund transactions, identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks, and provide meaningful financial insights.
• Calculate monthly profit and loss on terminated plans.
• Prepare journal voucher calculations, management accounts, and ensure fund pay-outs are processed accurately according to agreements.
• Collaborate with Business Intelligence, Policy Administration, Creditors, Debtors, and other internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding financial matters.
• Work closely with the actuarial team to ensure actuarial reports reconcile accurately with financial reports.
• Maintain the integrity of financial data through continuous validation, review, and error correction.
• Interpret financial trends and explain variances to support informed business decision-making.
• Assist with ad hoc finance projects and operational initiatives as required.

Job Experience and Skills Required

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent.

Experience

• 3–5 years' experience in accounting or fund accounting within the financial services industry.
• Experience performing complex reconciliations, month-end reporting, and financial analysis.
• Exposure to management accounts and fund accounting processes will be advantageous.
