SUMMARY:
A leading Waste Management company is seeking the services of a Junior Finance Controller for its North West - Mooinooi Depot.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will support the Depot Managers and Regional Managers in their various regions, in the financial management of the depot. Responsibility to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, variance analysis, measurement of KPI’s, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Analysis of the financial results of the region
Analysis and explanation of management accounts to budgets and forecasts
Finalising inter-depot charges
Development and measurement of regional production KPI’s
Presentation of financial results to management
Controlling all orders against budget
Preparation of annual budget and bi-annual forecast
Ensuring compliance to internal controls at depot level

RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Variance analysis
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
Research technical accounting issues for compliance
Support month-end and year-end close process
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Additional controller duties as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Three plus years working experience in a similar roll;
Expert MS Office Skills
Experience working on accounting systems,
Strong administrative acumen;
Attention to detail;
Analytical mindset;
Accustom to do reconciliations;
Proficient in excel and working with big data

EDUCATION LEVEL

Grade 12
B.Com completed, CIMA (Advantageous)
Related Management Accounting qualification
