Junior Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
A large and growing company within the FMCG Retail industry, based in Centurion, is looking for an organised, accurate and motivated Junior Bookkeeper to join its finance team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with 1–2 years' bookkeeping or finance experience who enjoys working in a busy, fast-paced commercial environment.

The successful candidate will support the finance function with day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, debtors and creditors administration, financial processing and reporting. The role requires someone who is comfortable working with high volumes, can manage deadlines effectively and takes pride in producing accurate work.

POSITION INFO:
Position overview:
The Junior Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records up to the Trial Balance stage for an allocated portfolio of 6 to 11 stores.
This role requires independent execution of full-function bookkeeping on Sage Evolution, including cashbook management, journal entries, VAT preparation, and variance analysis. Where a Finance Clerk is assigned, the Junior Bookkeeper acts as the designated reviewer; where no clerk is assigned, the Junior Bookkeeper executes the daily transactional processing independently

Requirements:

• Minimum Education & Qualifications
  
  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Account or Mathematics
  • Tertiary Qualification: Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Financial
  • Experience & Track Record
  • 2–4 years of commercial bookkeeping
  • Must have experience taking books up to Trial
  • Experience in a multi-store, franchise, or retail environment is strongly Systems Knowledge:
  • Strong working proficiency in Sage
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and financial processing
• Process and maintain debtors and creditors accounts
• Capture supplier invoices, credit notes, payments and other financial transactions
• Perform creditor and supplier statement reconciliations
• Process customer payments and assist with debtor reconciliations
• Follow up and resolve account discrepancies
• Assist with bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Ensure transactions are accurately captured and allocated
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Assist with preparing supplier payments and supporting documentation
• Monitor outstanding accounts and assist with debtor collections where required
