Job Overview:

The Junior Blockman/Butcher will assist in the preparation, cutting, and presentation of meat products while ensuring hygiene, safety, and quality standards are maintained. This role requires a hands-on individual who is eager to learn butchery skills, provide excellent customer service, and support senior butchers in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with cutting, trimming, deboning, and portioning various meat products.
Ensuring meat is displayed attractively and correctly priced.
Following hygiene, health, and safety standards at all times.
Assisting with stock rotation, receiving deliveries, and checking quality of products.
Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment.
Providing friendly and professional customer service when assisting clients with product selection.
Learning and developing butchery skills under the guidance of senior blockmen/butchers.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a butchery or meat-handling environment (advantageous but not always essential).
Basic knowledge of meat types, cuts, and preparation methods.
Strong attention to hygiene, safety, and detail.
Good physical stamina (role involves standing for long periods and handling heavy products).
Willingness to learn and grow in the trade.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Competencies:

Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
Basic numeracy skills for weighing and pricing products.
