CONTRACT: 3 MONTHS
R20 000 (negotiable)

An innovative law firm that has seen considerable growth recently is looking for a Junior Associate to join their organisation. The role will involve working within this law firm that has Attorneys and acts across areas of law that include Commercial litigation & banking law, insolvency and property law
Purpose of the role
To provide technically sound legal advice on a range of issues, whilst building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries.

Job Description

 The main purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive and effective legal advice in the fields of financial and commercial law.

 Steer legal processes for clients on complex legal challenges and disputes  Manage litigation (Strong litigation background essential)

 Conduct research into a wide range of commercial law, financial law and banking law matters.

 Due diligence investigations;  Advise on complex legal Banking and Finance principles/concepts;
 Developing relationships with clients including gaining a good knowledge of the client’s businesses, economic drivers, and market and sector requirements in order to ensure advice is relevant and commercial.

Competencies:

 Minimum of 2 years PQE;
 Commercial litigation background including:
 Debt recovery work;
 Asset repossessions/foreclosures
 Drafting of high court pleadings and notices;
 Experience with defended matters; (trials and opposed motion)
 Experience with debt review opposed matters;
 Significant experience from a leading law firm in one or all of the following environments: Banking & Finance, Corporate & Commercial
Job requirements:
 LLB degree or an equivalent appropriate legal qualification (preferably an LLM)
 An admitted attorney, (ideally within a corporate or investment banking legal environment or reputable banking and finance legal practice)
 Good interpersonal skills

 Excellent time management skills
 Ability to formulate, consider and select the most appropriate solutions
 Strong relationship management skills
 Ability to work effectively in a team
