Junior Assistant Manager - N2P

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Junior Assistant Manager with a strong maintenance focus to join the Riversdale Weaner–Grower Unit, situated approximately 6km east of Riversdale next to the N2 in the Western Cape. This intensive weaner–grower unit carries an average of 13 500 pigs on farm and requires a practical person who can combine sound pig husbandry with proactive maintenance and team support

Key focus areas

• Support the Farm Manager and Assistant Unit Manager with daily operations of the unit.
• Provide day‑to‑day supervision and guidance to the farm team.
• Perform practical pig husbandry across all weaner and grower houses.
• Carry out and coordinate routine maintenance and basic repairs on buildings, equipment, pipelines, and systems.
• Monitor production data, environment, and pig health, escalating issues promptly.
• Implement and maintain biosecurity, cleaning, and disinfection procedures.
• Assist with operational planning, record keeping, and on‑farm problem solving as required.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements

• Agricultural Diploma / Degree (Animal Production, Livestock or similar) preferred.
• At least 2 years’ practical experience in intensive livestock farming (piggery experience advantageous).
• Proven practical maintenance skills (e.g. plumbing, welding, fencing, irrigation, equipment and infrastructure repairs).
• Valid Code 10 or 14 driver’s licence with PDP.
• Physically fit, reliable, organised, and comfortable working with pigs in an intensive farm environment.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays on a roster, and to respond to urgent maintenance or animal‑welfare issues after hours when required.
