If you have a completed BCom Accounting degree, hands-on accounting and payroll experience, and you are the type of person who takes ownership without needing to be constantly managed, this opportunity could be an excellent next step.

My client is looking for a driven Junior Accountant to join their manufacturing finance environment. Although the position is fully remote, this is not a role for someone who wants to sit quietly behind a screen.

You will need to be proactive, accountable, resilient and comfortable working with a highly demanding manager who expects accuracy, urgency and results.

POSITION INFO:

Company and Job Description

You will form part of a supportive but performance-driven finance environment where high standards are expected and strong performers are given the opportunity to develop.
The successful candidate will support the accounting function across transactional finance, reconciliations, reporting and payroll, while gaining valuable exposure within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the day-to-day accounting function
Prepare and process journals
Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Assist with month-end processes and reporting
Process and maintain accounting information on Pastel Accounting
Assist with payroll administration and processing on Sage Payroll
Support creditors, debtors and cashbook functions where required
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Assist with audit preparation and finance-related administration
Work independently within a fully remote environment
Meet strict deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy

Job Experience and Skills Required

Completed BCom degree – essential
Diplomas will not be considered
Articles are not required
Approximately 3 years' relevant accounting experience
Manufacturing industry experience – essential
Previous payroll experience – essential
Pastel Accounting – essential
Sage Payroll – essential
Self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision
Driven, resilient and comfortable operating in a demanding environment
Strong attention to detail and deadline management
Must be comfortable receiving direct feedback and working to high performance standards
