Junior Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client, operating within the accounting and auditing sector, is seeking to appoint a Junior Accountant to join their team based in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• 3-year Accounting Degree or Diploma, such as BCom Accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 years' relevant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of South African tax legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Pastel, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's licence.

• Capture, process, and reconcile financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses.
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and trial balances.
• Ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with company procedures and applicable accounting standards.

• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
• Prepare supporting schedules and reports as required by management.

• Assist with VAT and other statutory submissions to SARS.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and South African accounting standards.
