Introduction
As "jewellery maker" of the jewellery processing centre your skills as a craftsperson will be tested daily with a wide range of tasks like cutting, shaping, setting stones, and polishing precious metals. This role requires a blend of manual dexterity and technical knowledge, and they may use both traditional hand tools and advanced equipment like CAD software or specialized manufacturing machines for tasks like ring, bangle, or chain making.
Key responsibilities and skills
Production: Create jewellery pieces from start to finish, including cutting, shaping, and finishing metal and other materials.
Stone setting: Expertly set precious stones into metal settings.
Design: Work from designs, which may be created by others or developed by themselves. This can involve producing scale drawings by hand or using CAD software.
Equipment operation: Operate a variety of tools and machinery, including hand tools, polishing equipment, and specialized machines for specific tasks like creating hollow beads or chains.
Quality control: Ensure all pieces meet the required standards for craftsmanship and durability.
Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail to ensure precision and quality.
Problem-Solving: Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills to address manufacturing challenges.
Teamwork and Communication: The ability to collaborate with team members and effectively communicate ideas and processes.
Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills to meet production deadlines.
Desired Experience & Qualification
At least 3-5 years of experience in a jewellery manufacturing operation is a minimum requirement.
A Grade 12 qualification is a basic requirement.
A diploma or certificate in Jewellery Design and Manufacture from an accredited institution is preferred. Professional certifications, such as a Jewellery Manufacturing Trade Certificate (JMTC) offered by bodies like the Jewellery Council of South Africa, can enhance employment prospects.

This position is based in Lanseria (Johannesburg) , living in close proximity will be ideal as the working hours are from 07:00 – 16:00 (additional Overtime needed from time to time)
