JUNIOR MICROBIOLOGY LAB TECHNICIAN/WOODBROOK/EAST LONDON – Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lab Technician. This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a regulated food manufacturing environment while supporting product quality, food safety, and compliance with South African standards.
Minimum Qualifications and competencies
- Diploma or Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or a related field
- Recent graduate or limited laboratory experience (FMCG exposure advantageous but not essential)
- Basic understanding of food microbiology and laboratory testing principles
- Awareness of South African FMCG compliance standards, including:
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- HACCP principles
- ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 (awareness level)
- Food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to follow SOPs and laboratory protocols accurately
- Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping skills
- Willingness to learn and take instruction
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Team player with good communication skills
- Responsible and quality-focused mindset
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or weekends if required by production schedules
- Ability to work in a controlled laboratory and factory environment
- Commitment to health, safety, and food hygiene standards
Salary: Market related depending on experience
