POSITION INFO:
JUNIOR BUYER: CONSTRUCTION, Northern Suburbs, Cape Town, Up to R20,000 per month
Our client, a well-established and growing Cape Town construction company, is looking for a suitably experienced Junior Buyer to join their team.
The company operates across the residential, commercial, retail and industrial construction sectors and requires a hands-on individual who can assist with the procurement of building materials, equipment and services for multiple construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers.
- Assist with sourcing construction materials, equipment and other project requirements.
- Prepare and process purchase orders.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and delivery dates.
- Follow up on outstanding orders and deliveries.
- Assist in negotiating competitive pricing and favourable supplier terms.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
- Work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and the commercial/administrative team.
- Help ensure materials are available when required to avoid delays on site.
- Resolve basic supplier, pricing and delivery queries.
Requirements
- Previous 2 years’ experience in a buying, procurement or purchasing role.
- Experience within the construction/building industry will be a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of building materials and construction suppliers would be beneficial.
- Good numerical and administrative ability.
- Computer literate, particularly MS Excel and Outlook.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
- Good attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Own vehicle and driver’s license
