JUNIOR BUYER: CONSTRUCTION, Northern Suburbs, Cape Town, Up to R20,000 per month

Our client, a well-established and growing Cape Town construction company, is looking for a suitably experienced Junior Buyer to join their team.

The company operates across the residential, commercial, retail and industrial construction sectors and requires a hands-on individual who can assist with the procurement of building materials, equipment and services for multiple construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers.
• Assist with sourcing construction materials, equipment and other project requirements.
• Prepare and process purchase orders.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and delivery dates.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and deliveries.
• Assist in negotiating competitive pricing and favourable supplier terms.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
• Work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and the commercial/administrative team.
• Help ensure materials are available when required to avoid delays on site.
• Resolve basic supplier, pricing and delivery queries.

Requirements

• Previous 2 years’ experience in a buying, procurement or purchasing role.
• Experience within the construction/building industry will be a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of building materials and construction suppliers would be beneficial.
• Good numerical and administrative ability.
• Computer literate, particularly MS Excel and Outlook.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
• Good attention to detail.
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
• Own vehicle and driver’s license
