Internal Auditor

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for an Internal Auditor who is a newly qualified CA(SA) open to working in Johannesburg with up to one-year post-articles experience for a permanent contract in a commercially focused environment.

Our client is a major South African organisation operating across retail, manufacturing and industrial sectors, with a nationwide footprint and a diverse portfolio of businesses. This is an opportunity for a newly qualified CA(SA) who wants more than a traditional audit role -someone who wants to understand how businesses operate, challenge the status quo, influence management decisions and build a strong career in internal audit.
 
We are looking for a qualified CA(SA) with strong technical foundations, who is exposed to retail, manufacturing or a similarly operationally complex environment, willing and able to travel approximately 25% of the time to major cities across South Africa.

Duties:
 

• Assess and understand business processes to identify key controls and risks.
• Evaluate the internal control environment and develop appropriate audit programmes.
• Conduct audits to identify control weaknesses, potential fraud, regulatory compliance issues and deviations from policies and procedures.
• Prepare working papers, calculations and statistical reports.
• Develop practical recommendations to address control weaknesses and inefficiencies.
• Apply sound audit judgement when dealing with complex audit matters and issues escalated by management.
• Prepare audit reports and present findings to senior management.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with management.
• Assist with implementing recommendations and conduct follow-up audits.
• Work with the audit team to identify and implement process improvements.
• Contribute to the development of the audit team through training, coaching and mentoring.

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Bachelor’s degree in Chartered Accountancy or related field.
• CA(SA)

• 1-year post-articles experience.
• Experience in the retail or manufacturing sector is highly desirable.

• A motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional, confident and presentable.
• Proficient in MS Office and advanced Excel.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills.
• Good business acumen.
