This role is for a seasoned training who has walked the path as an agent and advisor within insurance and retail sales, understands the nuances of funeral, risk, and life insurance products, and can confidently build trust and influence across diverse distribution channels. You will be a vital business partner, driving the capability and effectiveness of our frontline sales teams, including call centre agents and face-to-face advisors, ensuring our sales force excels in compliance, underwriting knowledge, and closing techniques that convert.
Role Summary
As a Distribution Trainer, you will lead the Facilitation, delivery, and continuous improvement of product and behavioural sales training programmes for Dis-Chem Life’s agent and advisor teams. Your expertise will empower the frontline to sell with confidence, professionalism, and compliance in a highly regulated environment.
You will leverage your firsthand experience as a former sales agent and trainer to engage seasoned advisors, hold their trust, and lead dynamic sessions that enhance both product knowledge and soft skills. Your training will bridge the gap between call centre and field sales, ensuring tailored approaches that respect the unique demands of each channel.

Key Responsibilities
Training Facilitation & Delivery
- Facilitate engaging, high-energy training sessions focused on insurance products (funeral, life, risk), behavioural selling, compliance, and underwriting basics.
- Deliver training to various audience levels, from new hires to seasoned advisors, tailoring facilitation style to meet participant needs.
- Maintain credibility and authority by drawing on personal sales experience and deep product knowledge.
- Check for learner understanding throughout sessions, using questions, role plays, and practical exercises.
- Adapt delivery to address the unique dynamics of call centre and face-to-face sales environments.
- Ensure training sessions run smoothly, on time, and adhere to curriculum guidelines set by the training design team.
Learner Feedback & Reporting
- Observe and assess learner performance during and after sessions, providing constructive feedback to support skill development.
- Identify and report training gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement to the Training Manager and Distribution leadership.
- Partner with frontline managers to support ongoing coaching needs and learner follow-up.
- Assist in tracking training attendance, participation, and assessment outcomes.
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Distribution leadership, compliance, underwriting, and product teams to remain up to date on product and regulatory changes.
- Act as a frontline ambassador for Dis-Chem Life’s training programmes, encouraging adoption and ongoing engagement.
- Support change management efforts by helping prepare sales teams for new product launches and process updates through effective training delivery.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of insurance products, including funeral, risk, and life insurance.
- Good understanding of insurance underwriting principles and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience as an insurance agent or advisor with personal sales success.
- Familiarity with behavioural selling techniques, influence, and closing principles.
- Understanding of differences in sales approach between call centre and face-to-face environments.
Soft Skills:
- Confident, energetic presenter with excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility quickly with experienced sales professionals.

Experience:
- Minimum 6 years combined experience in insurance sales and training facilitation.
- Proven track record as a successful insurance agent/advisor with personal selling experience.
- Demonstrable experience delivering insurance or financial services training.
- Experience facilitating training for both call centre and face-to-face sales teams.
- Exposure to compliance and underwriting concepts within insurance.
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Insurance, Sales, Training, or related fields preferred.
- Must hold valid RE5 and COB Certification
- Must be considered Fit and Proper in accordance with regulatory standards governing insurance professionals.
- Training facilitation certifications or professional development courses are advantageous.
- Equivalent practical experience with a strong track record will be considered.
