POSITION INFO:
Job Title: Instrument Technician

Salary: R45 000 per month + 13th cheque

About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation, control systems, visualization and information management is performed optimally and aligned with operational and reporting requirements.
Important Requirement: Experience within the Food & Beverage industry is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the maintenance, management and optimization of all instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA visuals, industrial networking and production information management on all sites.
- Managing requests from all parties to ensure the system remains optimal and fit for purpose in line with world class manufacturing standards.
- Managing the critical spares requirement for all electronics and instrumentation.
- Initiate and execute innovations and process improvements, either through continuous improvements or larger projects.
- Managing and negotiating with external suppliers to ensure cost effective management of instrumentation and controls.
- Ensure production and equipment data and information are available where and when it is required.
- Implementing of best-in-class strategies to reduce costs and constant improvement of processes.
- Familiar with Root Cause Analysis and various techniques to solve problems.
- Based on your continuous analyses, you integrate and execute best practices to improve engineering services.
- Continuous learning and benchmarking with the industry should enable you to develop and implement highest standards at the company.
- Your standard working agenda includes regular presentations to upper management related to overall performance, whilst building and driving applicable action plans.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
- Diploma in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering.
- 5–10 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment, with strong exposure to instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and historians.
- A strong background in instrumentation installation, configuration, calibration and validation.
- Strong working knowledge of ASI, IO Link, Profinet, Siemens TIA Portal, VSD’s, Ignition SCADA and SAP.
- Compiling and Reading P&ID’s and Wiring diagrams, familiar with E-plan.
- An understanding of Industrial networks & cyber security.
- Created Functional Description Specifications according to requirements.
- Familiar with ISA-88 & ISA–95 programming standard, and the implementation and troubleshooting of it.

- You are a strong communicator and fluent in at least English.
