POSITION INFO:
Injector Operator
Operations
Accountable for quality, standards, service and desired outputs within inter-related functional areas of responsibility. May be responsible for work of others. This role will work with various closely related concrete variables, requiring an understanding of the theory or practices underpinning inter-related functional processes.
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Injector Operator is the manufacturing of quality preforms, 1st level maintenance cleaning, documentation and record keeping, and carrying out any reasonable instruction.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
Quality
Manufacture good quality preforms, with visual inspections completed to monitor quality
Processing
Start the process
Make sure resin in the hopper is dry
Get the mould and barrel up to temperature
Make sure the chiller is running
Once on temperature, purge the barrel
Then purge the mould
Then the machine can be started
First preforms must go to waste
Then preforms get put into cages
Once full, the liner must be sealed closed
Empty cages must have a bulk bag and liner
Housekeeping
Preforms must be inspected every 30 minutes
Multitask
Must be prepared to carry out any lawful and reasonable instructions
Machines must be greased according to maintenance schedules
Mould size changes
Raw Material Receiving
Loads on delivery vehicles shall be checked prior to and during unloading to verify that food safety and safety of raw materials have been maintained during transit
Make sure bags are clean and not damaged before use
All material use must be recorded
First-Level Maintenance and Equipment Care
First-Level Maintenance and Equipment Care
Conduct routine equipment inspections before start-up and during operation.
Clean, inspect and lubricate equipment in accordance with the approved maintenance schedule.
Identify abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, damage or equipment performance.
Perform minor adjustments and basic first-level maintenance tasks within the employee’s training and authorisation.
Report and escalate equipment defects or breakdowns promptly.
Assist the Technical team during planned maintenance, where required.
Complete the relevant inspection and maintenance records.
• Check mould areas, guards, hoses, cooling-water connections, lubrication points and material-feeding equipment.
• Carry out approved minor adjustments and assist with mould changes.
• Record defects and immediately escalate conditions that may damage the mould or machine.

Qualifications and Experience
Qualification
Grade 12
Experience
1 year's experience in injection moulding
