SUMMARY:

Import Seafreight Controller – Groupages

We are seeking an experienced Import Seafreight Controller to manage groupage shipments and ensure smooth, compliant import operations for our client in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a detailâoriented professional with strong knowledge of seafreight processes and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fastâpaced logistics environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee endâtoâend import processes for groupage shipments, including documentation, customs clearance, and delivery.
Receive and process preâalert documentation (MAWB, HAWB, invoices, packing lists, manifests, freight invoices).
Register files on logistics systems and ensure accurate data capture.
Coordinate with clients to obtain shipping instructions and provide updates.
Prepare and submit documentation required for customs clearance to brokerage partners.
Manage transport arrangements, including pickâup and delivery documentation, EDI releases, SAD500, and proof of delivery.
Prepare draft invoices, verify charges, and finalize billing in line with company procedures.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.
Build and manage strong client relationships, providing proactive communication and problemâsolving.

Minimum Requirements:

3–5 years’ experience in seafreight imports, with a focus on groupages.
Strong knowledge of customs clearance procedures and international trade regulations.
Proficiency in logistics systems (Pegasus, CargoWise, Shipshape or similar).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and adapt to unforeseen challenges.
Detailâoriented with strong problemâsolving abilities.
