Import Airfreight Controller

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Imports Controller to join a dynamic airfreight team in Cape Town. This role reports directly to the Branch Manager and requires strong industry knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to manage the end‑to‑end import process.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Handle customer service functions, including preparing accurate estimates and quotations.
• Liaise with clients and agents to confirm cargo readiness, pickup dates, and flight details.
• Manage documentation: HAWB, MAWB, invoices, indemnities, and customs release.
• Track shipments, update clients daily via AirTrak, and ensure files are closed within required timelines.
• Approve agent invoices and ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.
• Escalate unresolved queries within 48 hours and manage damaged cargo per SLA.
• Participate in quarterly performance discussions and uphold HR compliance standards.

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management (NQF 5).
• At least 5 years’ airfreight industry experience.
• Solid knowledge of Incoterms, airfreight principles, and shipping practices.
• Strong geographical knowledge.
