Role Description

This role is technical in nature and is responsible for providing high quality and timely IT infrastructure support to ensure the availability, stability, and performance the client’s platforms and corporate systems.

Key Performance Areas: (Specific Description of the job)

The team is responsible for the administration and management of all development, UAT, pre-production, DR, and Production IT systems

• Central IT Infrastructure and IT Enterprise applications support
• Incident & Problem Management
• Availability & Capacity Management
• Configuration & Change Management with active CAB participation
• Setting system standards aimed at ensuring continuous improvement for Client experience and IT system stability. Deploying, maintaining and continually improving such standards
• Continuous automation driving an approach analogous to CI / CD in software development for IT infrastructure management
• Automating mundane and repetitive tasks, any repetitive task needing to be done more than once must be automated
• Driving and supporting a DevSecOps model
• Fixation on finding the root causes and permanently resolving them driving superior client experience and improved stability
• Performing continuous data analysis, insights and data driven decision making
• Creating and maintaining documentation/technical authoring and knowledge management
• Involved in hardware installations, firmware upgrades and operating system upgrades
• Involved in data centre migrations, expansions and optimisations, cloud inclusive
• Fine tuning and performance optimisation for continuous improvement of infrastructure and environment stability
• Performing monthly maintenance activities in the maintenance slot
• Driving and participating in DR technical preparation and testing activities monthly
• Managing the effectiveness of the backup as service, ensuring success of backups, and testing of backups are continually maintained to the highest standards
• Managing policy configuration and management on systems such as MS Active Directory, Mange Engine Desktop Central, Mimecast and similar
• Supporting system integration and software releases requiring Central IT infrastructure support for releases
• Providing and executing project support where Central IT activities are required
• Maintaining system security in line with required standards
• Delivering a Five 9 and Raving Fans quality of service exceeding Client expectations and SLA
• Liaising, coordinating, and managing third party Central IT Infrastructure partners
• Managing, optimising, maintain and reporting on Central IT software licenses
• Setting the polices, standards and implementing such for Azure and AWS Central IT functions
• Monitoring Systems and Infrastructure uptime and liaising with the NOC and SOC teams

Prior Work Experience / Background:

• Minimum of 4 to 6 years’ experience in IT operations environments, preferably in financial services
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Azure and AWS 
• Excellent knowledge and capability to support and improve Central IT Infrastructure technologies such as:
• MS Active Directory
• VMware; Horizon VDI, vCenter, VMs (ESXi)
• MS Exchange
• O365
• Azure
• AWS
• MS SharePoint
• WS_FTP
• MS PKI
• Solid understanding of LAN, WAN and VPN topology
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP
• Software deployment and patch management technology experience; the ability to package, deploy, manage, and maintain software deployments to endpoints and infrastructure
• MS Intune
• Mimecast
• PowerShell

• The candidate must have strong overall Infrastructure skills, particularly in managing Windows X86 servers

• Technical documentation – produces all necessary documentation and end to end infrastructure designs diagrams that accurately describe how the requirement will be delivered
• Problem resolution – identify problems in the operating environment or solution process and identify root cause and participate in the fix process and, where relevant, adjust design documentation to reflect any subsequent changes
• Ability to create and articulate a clear vision of how evolving technology can be applied
• Ability to create, set and improve on the required standards that will govern IT Infrastructure management
• Knowledge of how effective information technology can empower the enterprise

• Knowledge of the need for enterprise business contingency planning and how to put disaster recovery plans in place for key IT services
• Ability to evaluate an outage and understand the business impact in order to restore service within SLA
