SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a South African, qualified and experienced Horticulturist with a strong background in table grape production to join our team and represent them in India 9 months of the year and 3 months in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plant science and hands-on experience in managing table grape vineyards — from planting and pruning to nutrition and harvest management.
POSITION INFO:
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a network of growers in India, supporting and overseeing production quality and best agricultural practices. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with our South African operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support 15–20 table grape growers on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Oversee all aspects of table grape cultivation, including:
Vineyard establishment and planting
Pruning, canopy management, and pest control
Fertiliser and soil nutrient management
Irrigation scheduling and monitoring
Crop quality and yield optimization
Conduct field visits, provide technical advice, and ensure adherence to quality and export standards.
Collaborate with the management team on production planning, input sourcing, and sustainability practices.
Prepare regular reports on grower performance and production outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Plant Production, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in table grape production is essential.
Strong understanding of plant and soil nutrition, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to train and advise growers effectively.
Valid passport and willingness to travel between India and South Africa as required.
