Head Chef Operations – Busy Kitchen & Catering

Situation: Johannesburg

Salary: R35,000 neg

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Chef to lead the kitchen operations of a busy catering and food-service business with experience in food production for Events and Pre-packed meals.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service.
Lead, train, and manage kitchen staff.
Plan menus, production schedules, and food preparation.
Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety.
Manage stock levels, ordering, food costs, wastage, and portion control.
Coordinate catering production and ensure all orders are prepared and delivered on time.
Maintain kitchen equipment, cleanliness, and operational standards.
Ensure compliance with food-safety and health regulations.
Work closely with management to improve efficiency and profitability.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Chef, Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Operations Manager.
Strong leadership and team-management skills.
Experience in high-volume kitchens and catering.
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, stock control, and cost management.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
A hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
Relevant culinary qualifications and experience are advantageous.
Own vehicle and updated license
