SUMMARY:
The successful will be required to academic governance, research, facilitation responsibility, people management and quality assurance.  Must be willing to travel nationwide and internationally. Be responsible and accountable for setting and advancing the academic postgraduate strategy to Senate in line with the institutions strategic plans and direction.  Must have a very strong academic record and  and have a very good understanding of the academic disciplines within the department

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Academic Governance:
  1. Be an active member of Senate and contribute to the overall leadership and management of the relevant faculty.
  2. Develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, consultation, decision-making and communication with staff and students
  3. Promote and represent the institution both internally and externally
  4. Participates in Academic policy development and review processes
  5. Be involved in the formal processes related to curriculum review/development through the governance structures
  6. Be actively involved and perform any other tasks or activities which fall within the general functioning of the department
  7. Participate in professional duties (Meetings, workshops, official Regenesys ceremonies, seminars, conferences, inductions, orientations, etc.)
  8. Produce and present academic report per semester to Senate
Research:
  1. Conduct and publish independent research in the DHET accredited journal
  2. Supervise Masters research
  3. Be available to participate in the Higher Degrees Research Committee.
  4. Participate in Research workshops, both for supervisors and students
Facilitation Responsibility:
  1. Conduct contact  and  online classes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
  2. Prepare/design and assess assignments, and examination papers
  3. Be available to invigilate examination sessions
  4. Ensure quality facilitation of learning
  5. Report and account for student performance in their programmes
  6. Give due consideration to ways of retaining connections with teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  7. Adherence to the regulations and procedures of Faculties and of the Senate
  8. Help students develop skills and knowledge
  9. Enable students towards becoming self-directed
  10. Invite Guest lecturers
People Management:
  1. Manage individuals/staff reporting under him/her
  2. Ensure that Institution Human Resource policies and procedures are implemented
  3. Ensure that staff performance is managed appropriately and in a way that is consistent with the expectations of the Regenesys’ Academic Department, and that fair workload allocation processes are in place
  4. Ensure all staff have access to the necessary support to enable them to contribute fully and develop their skills and experience
Quality Assurance:
  1. Ensure all activities are carried out to the highest possible standards and put in place the necessary evaluation and monitoring procedures to ensure both compliance and improvement: such procedures will include teaching, research and management of all resources
  2. Comply with auditing, quality assurance and risk management procedures both internal and external
  3. Contribute by advising on the overall quality assurance processes of the institution which includes academic governance, innovative pedagogy (teaching approach or methodology) and the use of technology to support learning
