SUMMARY:
The University of Cape Town Lung Institute requires applications for a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Handyman* on a Fixed Term Contract.

The main purpose of the role is to repair and maintain buildings, office facilities, equipment, and surrounding grounds to ensure that the Instituteâs infrastructure, workspaces, and equipment remain functional, safe, and well maintained.
This isnât just maintenance work; youâll contribute to an environment that supports impactful healthcare research, patient-focused initiatives, and scientific innovation by ensuring that the Instituteâs facilities remain safe, operational, and professionally maintained.

This role is offered under the University of Cape Town Lung Instituteâs own employment terms and conditions, which are separate from UCT conditions of service.
POSITION INFO:
â What you bring:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Previous experience as a handyman or in a maintenance-related role
- Ability to use various machinery, tools, and maintenance products
- Code 8 Driverâs License and own reliable vehicle
- Computer literacy (advantageous)

ð What youâll own:- Repair and maintain buildings, equipment, and facilities both indoors and outdoors
- Ensure office furniture, appliances, and equipment are functional and repaired when necessary
- Assist with moving equipment and furniture within the building
- Support painting, renovations, and general upkeep of offices and facilities
- Maintain outdoor landscaping and indoor plants
- Manage stock and consumables required for maintenance work
- Arrange collection and delivery of goods as required
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the premises
- Conduct regular inspections and report hazards or maintenance concerns
- Maintain records of maintenance expenses and purchases
- Assist with recycling and composting initiatives
- Your support will help ensure employees experience efficient, professional, and well-coordinated HR processes throughout their journey with the organisation.
 ð Role Information:- Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)
- Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
- Based in Mowbray, Cape Town
