Group Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
A prestigious group with multiple companies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their dynamic finance team based in Johannesburg North.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full responsibility for the General Ledger across multiple entities
• Preparation and posting of journals, accruals, and provisions
• Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolving variances
• Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records
• Managing intercompany and intracompany accounting processes and transactions
• Preparing and maintaining VAT reconciliations in accordance with company SOPs and legislative requirements
• Assisting with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and submission deadlines
• Managing lease accounting in line with applicable accounting standards
• Maintaining lease registers and calculating lease liabilities and right-of-use assets
• Preparing monthly lease journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures
• Liaising with property managers and internal stakeholders regarding lease agreements
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
• Assisting with consolidated reporting across the group
• Supporting year-end financial statements and audit processes
• Providing meaningful financial analysis and commentary to management
• Maintaining and monitoring strong internal control environments
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
• Identifying control gaps and recommending process improvements
• Supporting audit requirements and implementing audit recommendations
• Preparing detailed Excel reports, financial schedules, and reconciliations
• Advanced use of Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modelling
• Investigating and resolving discrepancies relating to accounts and transactions
• Liaising with internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations

• BCom Degree in Accounting / Finance
• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably within a group structure
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
• Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
