POSITION INFO:
A leading manufacturing company within the printing and packaging industry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gravure Printer to join their Production team. This opportunity is ideal for a trade-tested Gravure operator with strong technical expertise in wide-format gravure printing and a passion for delivering high-quality production standards.
The successful candidate will form part of a high-performing print team and will be responsible for operating and maintaining a Cerutti 960R press while ensuring efficiency, quality, and minimal waste throughout the production process.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Computer Literate (MS Office)
- Trade Test in Rotary Printing and Re-Reeling – Gravure
- Minimum 3 years’ experience operating wide-format Gravure presses as a No.1 or No.2 Operator
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, printing equipment, and safety standards
- Experience within the label and/or food packaging sector advantageous
- Experience in line lamination and filmic print techniques

Technical Knowledge Required
- Gravure print techniques and quality standards
- Solvent-based inks, varnishes, coatings, and adhesive systems
- Printing substrates from paper to OPP
- Automated registration and viscosity systems
- Modern press controls and troubleshooting
- Quality control testing protocols for Gravure printed media
- Preventative maintenance and press housekeeping standards
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all printing, make-ready, and production activities
- Ensure all job specifications and quality standards are met
- Conduct quality checks and resolve print deviations promptly
- Operate the Gravure press efficiently while minimising waste
- Monitor AVT, Gamma systems, web guides, and print registration
- Maintain accurate production records and downtime reports
- Perform preventative maintenance and report defects timeously
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cylinders, inks, tooling, and materials
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and safety standards within the press area
- Complete shift handovers, job reports, and production documentation accurately
Working Conditions
- Rotating shifts, including day and night shift operations
- Working as part of a three-person press crew
- Four weeks of intensive machine-specific training provided
