JOB DESCRIPTION:

Fashion Designer: Roles & Responsibilities
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; 3-year degree in Design
Required Qualifications 
  • At least 3+ years' experience in design within the retail industry.
  • Excellent managerial, organization and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • Navigates and leads through change
  • Past experience in business/design with solid understanding of details and trims 
Skills & Strengths
  • Computer proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator , Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Solid understanding of Fit, fabrics, finishes and construction is a plus. 
  • Knowhow of draping a mannequin.
  • Flexible mentality, able to adjust quickly.
  • Knowledge of various types of fabrics, you will be working with all textile mediums.
  • Knowledge on global trend-leading street/ casual-wear brands.
  • Knowledge of using WGSN.
  • Manages multiple seasons at different stages of development, while understanding the development calendar.
  • Manages print development process and needs in partnership with CAD.
  • Confident to stand up and give a presentation on artwork prints, fabric, silhouettes, outfit coordination and presentation boards.
  • Creates line presentation boards for use at concept and development review.
  • Prepares and presents seasonal product reviews to product developers/ senior management.
  • Coordinates visual boards and samples to drive newness for the brand.
  • Works closely with cross functional teams to compliment and coordinate process, procedures, and development needs/packages.
  • Attends all fits with technical design for styling and aesthetic comments/input. 
  • Review styles with product developers to understand design intention prior to initiating tech pack.
  • Set up detailed tech packs
Detailed Skills

ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR:
Needs to be able to be advanced in adobe, it is our number one program we use, they need to be able to:
  • Draw Cads. Need to be adaptable to draw more than just apparel eg: footwear, headwear, underwear, socks, bags, swimwear
  • Create prints
  • Know how to get pantone codes
  • Create catalogues
  • Presentations
  • Trend forecast
  • Create artworks / graphics
  • Create hangtags and packaging.
PHOTOSHOP:
This person needs to understand the basics of photoshop:
  • Edit images
  • Deep etch images
  • Create print patterns
  • Create ads / banners / social media posts
  • Know the difference between CMYK and RGB with regards to print and digital.
  • Know the difference between JPEG/PNG/PDF/ HEIC.
  • Create a page to a specific dimension.
Microsoft EXCEL:
This person needs to understand Excel as we take it over into Tech packs / spec sheets (very important they understand clothing and have some sort of sewing background or patterns background in order to put these together).
