Graphic Designer

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

• The primary function of the graphic designer is to produce compelling designs and marketing materials.
• This graphic designer needs to work with the marketing manager, sales team, and customers to understand their needs before making design decisions
• As graphic designer you will also work on a variety of activities, such as websites, advertising, brochures, magazines, posters, product packaging, exhibitions and displays, corporate communications and corporate identity, i.e., giving organizations a visual 'brand'
• You'll work to a brief agreed to between the customer, company and/or marketing manager and will develop creative ideas and concepts
• The appropriate media and style must be chosen to meet the objectives and brief
• The work demands creative flair, meticulous attention to detail, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform graphic design requirements:

• • Preparing design mock-ups and presenting to the marketing manager before deciding on a final design/concept.
  • Creating various, compelling designs, including advertising material, company stationary, media layout, brochures, presentations, proposals, exhibitions and displays, and other marketing materials.
  • Social media content creation (imagery, design & text).
  • Create compelling artwork, designs, and digital content creation in line with brand CI.
  • Assist to design website landing pages.
  • Timely delivery of design requirements.
  • Ensuring artwork is correct and supplied in the right format/sizes/colour codes before being sent to press and production facilities.

2. Assist with company branding requirements:

• • Work with the vinyl applicator to produce company labels, signage, and other branding requirements.

3. Event Organizing:

• • Assisting with organizing events and interacting with clients, such as: exhibitions, seminars, sale conferences, open days, product launches, staff and customer parties, and end of year event.
  • This includes planning the logistics of the events, booking exhibition and provide event material, such as invites, displays, presentations and hand-outs.
  • Content creation for projects and company events (photos, videos, and project details).

4. Corporate identity manuals:

• • Bringing job briefs and concepts to life based on the needs and vision of the company, while adhering to brand guidelines and CI manuals in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining the company CI manuals.

5. User experience

• • Advise on designs of company applications.
  • Advise on Improvement of the user experience of the company’s applications and website.
  • Creation of floor layouts and representations required for applications.
  • Work on multiple briefs at the same time.
  • Keep abreast of current trends and industry best practice.
  • Weekly reports on project progress.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
• 3 – 5 Years’ experience in a similar role.
• Excellent skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good understanding of UX, UI and front-end development would be beneficial.
• Results orientated – take initiative and demonstrate a sense of urgency in driving for results and track own performance.
• Self-starter – be proactive in creating designs and marketing materials.
• Strong communication, conceptual thinking, typography skills and design skills.
• Ability to interpret briefs, create ideas and run with a project from start to finish.
• Bring exciting new ideas and implement new design concepts across different platforms to push the brand further

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Valid driver’s license is essential.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Afrikaans
• Success driven
• Self-motivated and able to function with minimum supervision
• Computer literate – (Microsoft office suite)
• Fast learner
• Ability to communicate with people on all levels in a diverse environment
