About the Role
Our client, a leader in sustainable water and chemical treatment solutions, is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer (BEng Mechanical) to join their growing team. The position is based at their head office in Pretoria and includes regular travel to operational sites in the Mpumalanga (Witbank) region. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on engineering graduate eager to gain exposure in both technical and client-facing environments. In this role, you will support engineering design, process optimization, and on-site operations, as well as assist with project coordination throughout the planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. A strong interest in water treatment processes, along with a desire to build foundational project management skills, will be key to your success in this hybrid technical position.

POSITION INFO:
What you’ll be doing

• Assist with process assessments, troubleshooting, and optimization of water and chemical treatment systems
• Support project planning, scheduling, execution, and close-out activities
• Collaborate with design, operations, and client teams to ensure solutions meet technical and site-specific requirements
• Participate in commissioning, performance testing, and development of operational guidelines and manuals
• Travel to site locations to perform audits, collect data, and support operators and clients
• Assist with technical proposal development, design inputs, and costing for new business opportunities
• Support regulatory compliance monitoring and environmental reporting
• Assist with developing and delivering operator training and improvement plans
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed, particularly on mining and industrial sites

• BEng in Mechanical Engineering (completed) Mandatory
• 0 - 3 years’ work experience (exposure to water treatment, industrial plant operations, mechanical systems, or process environments advantageous but not essential)
• Own reliable vehicle and valid South African driver’s license
• Willingness to travel regularly to the Mpumalanga (Witbank) region
• Exposure to or interest in project management principles
• Site-based exposure (commissioning, optimization, or operations) advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Python or simulation tools beneficial
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a South African citizen
