SUMMARY:
We are seeking an entry-level Junior Graduate Chemical Engineer to support in the development and enhancement of processes within a chemical manufacturing facility. This temp contract position offers significant growth opportunities based on performance and potential for long-term employment.

Employment type: 3-month temp  

Location: Montague Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa 

Salary: R17000 to R22000 p/m depending on qualifications and experience 

Job Overview:
We are seeking an entry-level Junior Graduate Chemical Engineer to support in the development and enhancement of processes within a chemical manufacturing facility. This temp contract position offers significant growth opportunities based on performance and potential for long-term employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, including start-up, shut-down, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Investigate and analyze processes on the factory floor, working closely with process engineer and the maintenance manager.
• After procedural documentation is complete, help identify safety hazards, bottlenecks, and areas for improvements in efficiency.
• Take initiative to create practical solutions to identified issues.
• Develop and maintain critical spares lists for machinery.
• Ensure all documentation is completed on time and adheres to company standards and international directives.
• Level 2 and 3 Process Mapping of key Processes
• Time and Motion Studies
• ISO and AIMS audit preparations, corrective action closures 

Qualifications:

• Post-grad student seeking experience or engineering student needing to complete in-service training.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict guidelines and procedures.
• Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with team members. 

Working Environment:

• Split between office-based work and time on the factory floor.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols and full PPE required when on the factory floor. 

Work Schedule:

• Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am - 4:15 pm
• Friday: 7:30 am - 3:00 pm
