If you are passionate about food, styling and photography, we are looking for a talented and creative Food Stylist with strong photographic experience to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should have an exceptional eye for detail and understand how to make food look as irresistible through the camera as it does in real life. You will be responsible for styling food for photography and content shoots, while also contributing your photographic expertise to create beautiful, high-quality imagery.
Key Responsibilities
- Style food for advertising, social media, editorial, packaging and digital content.
- Prepare, arrange and garnish food to achieve an appealing on-camera presentation.
- Photograph food and products, including composition, lighting and camera operation.
- Work closely with chefs, creative teams, designers and marketing teams.
- Source appropriate ingredients, props, surfaces and styling accessories.
- Maintain consistency across a series of images and campaigns.
- Ensure food is camera-ready throughout a shoot.
- Assist with creative concepts, mood boards and visual direction.
- Select and perform basic post-production/editing of images where required.
- Keep up to date with current food, photography and visual-content trends.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Food Stylist, Food Photographer or in a similar creative role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating food styling and photography.
- Excellent understanding of photography, lighting, composition and colour.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation techniques.
- Creative, organized and able to work efficiently under production deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a creative team.
- Relevant culinary, photography or creative qualification will be advantageous.
- A valid driver''s license and own transport is essential
