SUMMARY:
Implement and Manage the day-to-day requirements of the Food Safety and Quality Management and Health and Safety sections.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Overall running of the Quality Department

• Developing and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Management programs (including PRP''s, SOP''s & HACCP) in line with Food Safety legislation and certification (FSA, ISO22000, GMP+, ISO9001, GFSI etc.) and Kosher/Halal requirements.

• Serves as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) coordinator for the facility.

• Verification of Food Safety, Quality, and Health & Safety procedures.

• Ensure that the Food Safety, Quality and Health & Safety procedures are always maintained and up to date.

• Problem solving as related to Food Safety and Quality issues and assisting with the compliance of Food Safety legislation and Quality standards.

• Prepare for and lead Food Safety, Quality and Health and Safety audits

• Ensure quality of products received and produced by daily checks.

• Ensure traceability by marking all incoming raw materials with date stickers.

• Ensuring the FIFO is being followed in input fridges and freezers as well as for finished product freeers.

• Reporting any non-conformances regarding Incoming Goods, Work in Progress and Finished goods to management.

• Ensures high and efficient yields by checking the accuracy of scales, scale sheets, weights from previous days production, package weights

• Review new procedures and documents for impact on food safety.

• Works closely with production manager, product development team and logistics to develop and implement food safety responsibilities.

• Perform mock recalls and ensure identification, labelling, and traceability system functions as planned.

• Daily temperature monitoring of food products, freezers, fridges, delivery vehicles,

• Analyze & report on Quality Performances through trend analysis and identify performance gaps & improvement.

• Ensure that factory based Quality audits (Internal audits) are carried out to verify compliance against defined standards and codes of practice.

• Ensure effective implementation of food safety programs:(including allergen management, sanitation and HACCP) across the organization.

• Coordination of internal, third party and supplier audits.

• Provide food safety and quality awareness by training staff (new and existing).

• Monitor Supplier Quality Assurance program.

• Ensure effective mock recalls and traceability program.

Education Requirements

• Grade 12

• Qualification in food technology or biotechnology

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as Quality Manager or Food Safety Manager • Experience within the food industry

• Leadership skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Problem-solving skills

• Industry-specific technical and food knowledge

• Strong regard for quality assurance and food safety according to legal standards and requirements
