Fleet Manager (Rail / Logistics)

SUMMARY:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the full management of company fleet operations, including vehicle procurement, maintenance, compliance, cost control, driver management, and reporting to ensure optimal vehicle availability and operational efficiency.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations

• Oversee daily fleet operations and vehicle allocation

• Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and vehicle performance

• Manage procurement, maintenance, servicing, and repairs

Maintenance & Compliance

• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and legally compliant

• Schedule preventative maintenance

• Maintain accurate inspection and service records

Cost Control & Budgeting

• Manage fleet budget (fuel, maintenance, insurance, replacements)

• Identify cost-saving opportunities

• Recommend procurement or disposal strategies

Driver & Safety Management

• Enforce driver policies and safety standards

• Monitor driver performance and investigate incidents

• Manage insurance claims and risk mitigation

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

• Prepare fleet performance reports

• Manage supplier and service provider relationships

• Support audits and compliance checks

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:
Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Operations or related field 

Experience:

• 3–5 years’ experience in fleet/transport management

• Experience managing a medium to large fleet

Skills:

• Strong planning and financial management skills

• Knowledge of transport legislation

• MS Office & fleet management systems proficiency

Other Requirements:

• Valid drivers license

• Willing to work flexible hours (including weekends & public holidays)

• Must pass medical, verification, and profiling assessments
