Fleet Controller
POSITION INFO:
The Fleet Controller is responsible for the full operational management, compliance, and performance of the vehicle fleet. This includes coordinating all maintenance, repairs, and servicing to ensure maximum vehicle uptime, roadworthiness, and full compliance with Road Traffic Regulations and relevant operational quality standards.
The role serves as the key link between service providers and the company, ensuring efficient communication, cost control, and high-quality execution of all fleet-related activities. It also includes managing maintenance records, purchase orders, service schedules, and supplier relationships.
A strong focus is placed on preventive maintenance, rapid breakdown response, accident repair oversight, and continuous improvement of fleet performance and cost efficiency.
In addition, the Fleet Controller ensures:
- Accurate daily reporting (vehicle condition, mileage, fridge hours, uptime)
- Strict compliance with safety, legal, and quality standards
- Effective planning and scheduling of services and vehicle availability
- Control of fleet budgets, expenditure, and procurement processes
- Proper documentation, audits, and reporting accuracy
- Health & safety compliance across all fleet operations
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and technically skilled, with strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles, refrigeration systems, tail lifts, and fleet tracking systems. They must be assertive, reliable, and capable of performing under pressure while maintaining high operational standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Degree/Diploma in Logistics, Business Management, Transport, or Fleet Management
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar fleet management role
- Code EC driver’s license with valid PDP
- Strong technical knowledge of MAN and Mercedes vehicles, including maintenance and mechanical systems
- Proven experience in fleet operations, maintenance coordination, and transport compliance management
