Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of its financial records.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience across statutory reporting, stock control, and general accounting functions. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure across financial accounting, tax compliance, and operational finance within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

POSITION INFO:

Perform and post monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
Process month-end journals and maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation
Reconcile daily cash-ups to bank statements
Prepare and submit VAT returns, including VAT reconciliations
Complete EMP201 submissions and other payroll-related statutory returns
Prepare quarterly Stats SA financial questionnaires
Conduct stock takes and ensure accurate system stock records
Manage stock transfers between locations and investigate discrepancies
Oversee forex administration, including reporting of incoming foreign funds
Support the finance team with accounting queries and training
Assist the Financial Manager with BEE documentation, audit preparation, and compliance requirements
Provide general finance administration and ad hoc support as required
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ general financial and administration experience
Strong experience in reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close processes
High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (advantageous)
Hospitality industry exposure (advantageous)
Strong communication skills with the ability to support and collaborate within a finance team
 
Qualification:
Financial Accounting Diploma or BCom Degree
SAIPA registration as a Professional Accountant
