An established company is seeking an experienced, organised and highly accountable Finance Coordinator to take responsibility for the daily coordination and control of its finance function.
This is not a basic Finance Clerk position. The successful candidate must have strong financial knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to take ownership of the finance function. The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing deadlines, supervise finance-related activities and provide management with accurate and timely financial information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage debtors and creditors accounts accurately and efficiently.
• Follow up on overdue customer accounts and escalate high-risk debtors.
• Reconcile bank, supplier and customer accounts within monthly deadlines.
• Prepare and manage supplier payment schedules.
• Verify invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes and supporting documentation before processing.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain updated cash-flow forecasts.
• Identify expected shortages or unusual expenditure before they become problems.
• Monitor budgets, expenses and actual financial performance.
• Investigate and explain significant budget variances.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, age analyses and management information.
• Monitor VAT, statutory and payroll-related financial processes and deadlines.
• Check and reconcile payroll figures before final processing.
• Identify financial discrepancies, irregular transactions and missing documentation.
• Maintain accurate, secure and easily traceable financial records.
• Ensure accounts and supporting documentation remain audit-ready.
• Supervise and coordinate junior finance or administrative staff.
• Allocate duties, monitor deadlines and check the quality of completed work.
• Provide management and directors with accurate financial information.
• Escalate financial risks promptly and recommend practical solutions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial and employee information.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Relevant Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or Financial Management.
• A BCom qualification or professional accounting affiliation would be advantageous.
• Minimum of five to seven years’ experience in a finance or accounting environment.
• At least three years’ experience in a senior, supervisory or finance-coordination role.
• Strong hands-on experience in debtors and creditors management.
• Experience with bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
• Experience with VAT, payroll-related finance processes and statutory deadlines.
• Experience preparing monthly financial reports and age analyses.
• Experience with cash-flow monitoring, budgeting and expense control.
• Experience managing supplier payments and customer collections.
• Proven ability to identify and investigate financial discrepancies.
• Experience supervising or coordinating junior finance or administrative employees.
• Experience reporting directly to senior management or directors.
• Experience within a fast-paced SME, mining supply, engineering, construction or project-based environment would be advantageous.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, filtering and financial calculations.
• Advanced accounting-software experience across debtors, creditors, reconciliations, general ledger, age analysis and reporting.
• Experience with OMNI accounting software would be advantageous.
• Advanced Microsoft Outlook skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Teams skills.
• Intermediate to advanced payroll-software experience.
• Advanced experience using online banking platforms.
• Strong PDF and financial-document management skills.
• Advanced electronic filing, cloud storage and document-control skills.
• Ability to extract, analyse, reconcile and present financial information independently.
