Finance Administrator

SUMMARY:
An established company in Port Shepstone is looking for an experienced Finance Administrator. The role is responsible for supporting the finance and operations teams by accurately capturing, tracking, and analysing production and cost data.

POSITION INFO:
This position plays a key role in maintaining effective cost control, providing financial insights to support decision-making, and ensuring efficient financial administration within the abattoir.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily and weekly cost tracking related to poultry processing, packaging, and distribution.
• Collect and verify production data (yields, throughput, wastage, by-products).
• Prepare and reconcile daily/weekly/monthly cost reports.
• Support in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of raw material usage, labour costs, utilities, and overheads.
• Liaise with production and operations teams to validate data.
• Assist with inventory management records (feed, packaging, chemicals, consumables).
• Process supplier invoices, purchase orders, and cost allocations in line with finance procedures.
• Support month-end closing activities, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting, finance, or costing role (manufacturing/food industry experience advantageous).
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, SAP, or similar).
• Understanding of basic cost accounting principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (liaising with finance and production staff).
• Willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing/agri-business environment.
