JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client has an opportunity available for a Factory Supervisor in the South of JHB 

We need the expertise of a person who has worked extensively in the paper bag manufacturing industry 

Requirements:

  • Matric with Mathematics and Science.
  • Bag Maker Trade with 5 years post trade manufacturing experience 
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Previous experience in the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of Paper Bag machines.
  • The ability to do physical work.
  • An understanding of product quality standards, packing specifications and safety standards.
  • Willing to work overtime and on weekends when required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, coordinate, and execute daily tasks in line with the production schedule.
  • Supervise departmental personnel and the allocation of labour resources.
  • Ensure machines are running to specification speed and daily production targets are being achieved.
  • Report any unsafe machine or workplace practice.
  • Assist machine operators and minders with troubleshooting and fine-tuning of machines.
  • Coordinate the cleaning, lubrication and maintenance of machines, tools, equipment and work areas.
  • Weigh or measure materials and products to ensure adherence to the specifications.
  • Add or adjust chemicals, solutions, inks to machines and equipment to ensure the manufacturing process meets the required specifications.
  • Maintain Housekeeping standards in the machine area.
  • Assist in the operation of other machines when required.
  • Work with packers and assist in packing when required.
