Facilities Technician

SUMMARY:
Position: Facilities Technician (Hotel, Lodge or Commercial Building Exp Essential) with Red Seal Certification
Location: Bantry Bay, Cape Town

We are recruiting an experienced and hands-on Facilities Technician to join the Maintenance team of a busy 4-star hotel in Cape Town.
This is a multi-skilled technical role requiring a recognised Red Seal Trade Test certification, together with practical experience across general building maintenance, HVAC and air-conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems and general repairs.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements

• Recognised Red Seal Trade Test certification – essential and non-negotiable
  - Relevant trade background in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing or a related facilities discipline
  - Minimum 2 to 4 years’ relevant facilities or building maintenance experience
  - Previous hands-on maintenance experience within a hotel or commercial office/property environment – essential
  - Strong all-round technical knowledge across HVAC, air-conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance
  - Practical experience with maintenance and fault-finding on HVAC and air-conditioning systems
  - Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration equipment advantageous
  - Practical plumbing and general building maintenance experience
  - Electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience within your authorised scope
  - Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  - Experience with planned and preventative maintenance (PPM)
  - Ability to read technical diagrams, manuals and equipment specifications
  - Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working procedures
  - Experience with a CMMS such as OMNI or similar advantageous
  - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  - Ability to respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and urgent maintenance requirements
  - Professional and guest-focused when working in occupied rooms and public areas
  - Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and assist with emergency call-outs when required
  - Valid South African ID
  - A fully updated CV with Red Seal certification, relevant qualifications and contactable reference details is essential

• Carrying out day-to-day facilities maintenance, repairs and technical fault-finding throughout the hotel
  - Maintaining guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, restaurants, conference facilities and back-of-house areas
  - Inspecting, servicing and assisting with repairs to HVAC, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems
  - Attending to plumbing faults, leaks, drainage issues and associated repairs
  - Carrying out electrical maintenance and fault-finding within your authorised scope
  - Completing general building maintenance and repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and equipment
  - Conducting planned and preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and downtime
  - Responding promptly to urgent maintenance requests and technical breakdowns
  - Diagnosing faults and escalating specialist repairs when required
  - Completing job cards, maintenance records and CMMS tasks accurately
  - Following all required health, safety and operational procedures
  - Working closely with operational departments to resolve maintenance issues with minimal disruption to guests
